Yin and yang is a concept from ancient Chinese philosophy for two forces that oppose yet complement each other.The taijitu (the yin-yang fish symbol) took its established form in Song-dynasty Neo-Confucian diagrams.Both Taoism and Confucianism have long treated yin and yang as a principle governing the cosmos and the body.Traditional Chinese medicine uses yin and yang as one framework for describing bodily states.The taegeuk symbol on the South Korean flag also comes from this yin-yang philosophy.There is no scientific evidence that yin and yang are physical quantities that actually exist.
