BodyBody as Bible Map
Body as Bible Map
Also called: Anatomical Holy Land · Physiological Bible
A correspondence table that overlays every biblical place name onto an organ of the body.In this narrative, it is a map running from Nazareth to the Dead Sea, inside the body.

Established facts
Nazareth is an actual town in Galilee. It is traditionally said to be where Jesus grew up.The Jordan River flows from the slopes of Mount Hermon and the Sea of Galilee into the Dead Sea.Bethlehem is a town south of Jerusalem. Its Hebrew name means "house of bread." The Dead Sea is the lowest point of land on Earth. The claim that these place names point to organs of the body is a later interpretation not found in the biblical text.

In this narrativeFrom Nazareth to the Dead Sea
In this narrative, Nazareth is the brain1.The Jordan River is the spinal cord1.Bethlehem and the Dead Sea are the sacrum, that is the solar plexus1.The map of Israel becomes, as is, a map inside the body1.Jesus's journey is the path down from the brain along the spine to the sacrum1.What travels that path back and forth is the Christ oil1.
The table that assigns a biblical figure to each organ in the brain, drawn out.
In this narrativeThe Jordan River is the spinal cord
In the 1920s, George W.Carey and Inez Perry glossed the Jordan River as "that which descends, a flowing river"1.In anatomical terms, they write, this is the spinal cord1.Fluid from the brain's claustrum flows through the spinal cord1.The Bible's two fords are said to mark the level of the 12th vertebra and the base of the skull1.Joshua crossing the Jordan is interpreted as crossing this spinal cord1.
In this narrativeBethlehem is the solar plexus
The same book glosses Bethlehem as "house of bread"1.It overlays this meaning onto Jesus's line, "I am the bread of life"1.It writes that the solar plexus has a thimble-shaped hollow, that is a manger1.A seed, that is Jesus, is placed in that manger1.Joseph and Mary are drawn as the beings who supply the material that seed will grow from1.
In this narrativeA body attached to every place name
This book attaches a bodily location to dozens of biblical place names1.Jericho means "a fragrant place" and is said to point to the cerebellum1.Cana means "place of reeds" and is said to point to the lungs1.Galilee is glossed as "circle" or "circulation"1.Capernaum is glossed as "village of comfort"1.The whole map is turned into a set of labels for the body this way1.
Connected concepts
- Christ Oil →What flows over this map is the Christ oil.The place names are labels attached to where the oil passes.
- Jacob's Ladder →Bethel, where Jacob slept on a stone pillow, is also a place name on this map.The ladder story takes up one square of the map.
- Pituitary Gland →The child born in Bethlehem is a seed made together by Joseph and Mary, that is the pineal gland and the pituitary gland.
- Incarnation →The solar plexus and the womb, the map's endpoints, are also where the soul descends and touches the body.
