How the Sun Becomes Jesus

How one sun stalled at the solstice produces twelve disciples, a halo, and the names of the weekdays

Generated illustration · The winter solstice sun hanging above the Southern Cross. The starting point of a story about rising again three days later.

The Jesus story is the oldest layer in this corpus. The sun's yearly path across the sky is a single loop, and that one loop gives rise to twelve disciples, a halo, and the names of the weekdays. We trace that path here.Every sentence from here on stitches together the picture the sources draw. Each step's source is marked by a number at the end of the sentence.

What this chain shows

  • This chain is the oldest layer in the corpus.Stowe's correspondence table was already complete in 1907, and later writing repeats that same framework.
  • There is a single bridge here: the calendar. The Saturn chain uses this exact same bridge — the solstice and the weekday.
  • Korean-language sources push back on this chain the hardest. Both Namu Wiki and Choi Kwang-min quote the original texts and counter with the dating of the sources.
  • The rebuttals do not deny the correspondence table itself. They cut the causal link by asking which god came first and when the documents were actually written.

Where the sources do not connect

  • The claim that Jesus is the sun and Old Testament scholarship's claim that Yahweh was once a sun god never cite each other in this corpus. The two layers sit side by side without meeting.
  • None of the three Korean-language rebuttals cite one another.Whether they reached the same conclusion independently is unconfirmed.
