Tartaria
Also called: Grand Tartaria · Tartary
A historical name for Central Asia and Siberia that genuinely appears on 17th- and 18th-century European maps.In this narrative it is the name of a super-ancient civilization erased just before the modern era.

Established facts
Tartary is a historical name once used for Central Asia and Siberia. The name appears on the map Ortelius made in 1570.It was a catch-all term for the khanates left behind after the Mongol Empire collapsed. The "Tartarian Empire" theory first emerged in Russia in the 1970s and 80s, through Anatoly Fomenko's New Chronology.Nikolai Levashov's racialized occult view of history followed after that. From around 2016, the idea shed its Russian nationalist coloring and spread online. The Russian Geographical Society has rejected the theory as extremist fantasy.

In this narrativeAn empire on the map
Tartaria began as a name that genuinely appeared on maps1.In this narrative, that name becomes a real empire1.It is described as a single civilization stretching across every continent2.It is drawn as having used free energy and built a harmonious society2.Giant, myth-scale beings are said to have lived there too2.The shared ending across sources is that it vanished suddenly around 18001.
In this narrativeWho built it
This picture holds that every ornate old building belongs to Tartaria1.The Singer Building and the old Penn Station in New York are cited as examples1.The buildings of the 1915 San Francisco fair are cited too1.Even the White House and the Capitol are named as Tartarian architecture2.These buildings are said to be at a level today's technology still cannot match3.A further claim adds that Freemasonry seized this knowledge and these buildings3.
In this narrativeWhat Korean-language blogs add
Three Korean-language sources cover this theory in detail.Blogger gus567890 lays out the claims and rebuttals side by side1.It introduces the claim that domes and spires were actually wireless power antennas1.Blogger Mwanster goes further into the sub-claim that Freemasons and the Illuminati erased the civilization2.Blogger Yoong PD places Tartaria inside the larger "Earth Reset" theory3.All three pieces end by noting that academia does not accept this theory.

In this narrativeA different branch
Part of the Tartaria community flows in a different direction1.In pockets of online communities, historical-revisionist content circulates1.This theory has also been used to deny German war crimes in the First and Second World Wars1.One Telegram channel reportedly uses this theory to spread antisemitism1.This site does not follow that branch.

- Free Energy →The technology Tartaria is said to have used is free energy. The story of a lost civilization continues into a story of lost technology.
- Freemasonry →There is a claim that Freemasons seized Tartaria's knowledge and buildings. This is where the story crosses into a secret-society story.
